” Morning Brew “ 8 X 10 oil on linen
This was the burnt sienna wash shown in the last post.
Here’s what happened with the Elevens recently. My solo show at Bassin Fine Art Gallery, St. Croix, opened on December ELEVENTH. The show closed on January ELEVENTH. And Shazamm, I sold ELEVEN paintings. With great and bowed thanks to collectors, friends, unexpected walk-ins, architects of secret surprises and other random appreciators. And to the delightful and professional gallery owners who provided a stunning stage for viewers and paintings. Thank you all.
Dick Blick and King of Frame– I hope your operators are standing by, I’ve supplies to replenish.
THEY are not standing by………..
Doing what they do best: laying or lying by. Standing is for when there’s food or promises of beach.
Attention humans in need of an exquisite place of your own to lay around in or beach at:
Take a look around Southern Breezes Villa here on St. Croix. Swoon. Then rent it and come for a visit.

Congratulations ELEVEN times!!!!! I’m so happy for you! Your work deserves to be bought and hung and owned and enjoyed.
Love Morning Brew. You are already working for your next show I see. No rest for you.
Now stop showing us pictures of Southern Breezes Villa when I look out my window and still see snow. Brrrrrrr.

Thank you eleven times Carolla. Not only no rest, but I’ve been promised an air conditioner for the studio by Mr. Conservation, Mr. Wash the Plastic Bag, Mr. Turn Off the Fan When You Leave the Room himself. This, a bribe, in order to keep me painting through the summer months.
You know what? I can so easily be bribed!

An AIR CONDITIONER! In St. Croix? Go figure. And it will be allowed by Mr. I can Save the Earth all by myself? (I love him) Me thinks he wants to retire and live off your sales and commissions. I’d keep an eye on him.
an air conditioner! I’d never have believed it.

Love both paintings — with color with out. 11, 11, 11 — very cool. Love the pets photos. Always makes me happy and smile. So. Breezes look beautiful. I’m off to play Lotto right now. 😉

Thank you Paz- funny, 11:11 was always my ” special time ” on the digital clock- for decades.
I’m with you on the pet photos. I laugh every time I watch them.

Eleven! Happy days! And now Morning Brew, another beautiful and intensely colored portrait. I think what struck me most about your show was this brilliant use of color. Congratulations, Bonnie, on an excellent start on your next show.
January 19, 2011 at 1:09 am |
Thanks Don-you know color and use it so artfully. I’ve been having some growth spurts this past year and included in that is feeling more confident in using color.
It’s going to be quite a feat, replenishing.

It does not surprise me whatsoever that your paintings sell, Bonnie. They absolutely draw me in. Congratulations!
January 19, 2011 at 1:10 am |
Leslie- that’s so very good of you to say. Coming from you I take it as a high compliment.
January 19, 2011 at 12:32 am |
You have southern breezes to look at. Carol has trash bags piled up on the streets of NYC waiting to be picked up. I have slushiceballs in my Uggs. If Carol and I pool together the cash for number 12, can you fly us down to pick it up? I’ll even do a full body scan at Logan airport to get the hell out of here. New Year Greetings! SFAR is no more but Waving or Drowning is up and running with a message for you. You have been my Bill Murray. I raise my Red Hot to you.
January 19, 2011 at 1:17 am |
There you are!!!! I was going to flag down the police with a MIA for you but thought they’d think I was drowning and not waving.
Now I have to search through your new incarnation and reacquaint myself with your posts.
I know the NE winter is horrid this year. We’ve flipped the atmosphere and here, are basking in a lovely, cool, overcast winter after epic floods and several near misses with hurricanes all summer through the end of November.
I’ll be up with my bedroll in September and you and Carol can hightail it down here- damn number 12, just come till April.
Can’t you see me waving?
Missed you Pat.

Congrats on the show!
The villa looks pretty nice!
January 20, 2011 at 1:53 pm |
… and your painting is really nice. … what’s that stick thing in the painting? … a guitar?
January 21, 2011 at 6:56 pm
Ross- it’s not a guitar although she’d be tickled to think it could be.
It’s the front of the booth where this woman sells her vegetables on Saturday mornings.

Whoo–Hooo!!! Congratulations on the sales!! Just wow. I am so happy for you. I know that this will inspire you to continue to work, knowing that you are going in the right direction.
I especially love the “burnt sienna” version. Love the washes in this!
January 21, 2011 at 6:58 pm |
Thanks Melinda- Funny how some good experiences stoke the creative flames.
Doing that loose sienna wash was great practice- I need to remind myself to do more of it.
You just did that.
Now I’m reminded.
Glad you checked in- I always appreciate your input.

WOOOOOO WHEEEEEE Fan Tast TIC!!!
Eleven sold!! And more wonders to come as I can see by looking at your latest!! Yeah… get ready suppliers…
Careful, my painter friend… with an offer like that you’ll end up with so many visitors you won’t be able to enjoy your comfortable creaters…
January 22, 2011 at 12:26 pm |
Hey Marian, you could be first on the list you know. By invitation, not intimidation. I’d love to paint with you as I think I could learn so much.
When should I book you for?
January 26, 2011 at 4:20 am |
So on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of how great it was to have a show, would you say it was about…11?
Are you able to point Cloud’s ears in any direction? I’d be playing with those cute pink piggy ears all day.
I find it interesting that your finished painting doesn’t follow the value pattern of your sketch. Or is the sketch done the way it is for a different reason? I’m just curious.
Now get on the dick blick site and start ordering up a storm!

Well shazam, comrade! Congrats on moving your art so well!! I do hope, however, that you will not become like the rest of those successfully- selling capitalistic running dog artists out there. We need to stick together in our starvation! Starving artists of the world, unite!! Signed… your B.S.ing friend in California. Any heavy snow yet, in your neck of the woods?
