Making A Mark– authored by Katherine Tyrrell. Her stamp appears on many blogrolls that I scour and is often accompanied by high words of praise for her dedication to her art and the business of marketing art. She’s thorough, extremely knowledgeable and ( so unfair ) very talented. Generous with her readers too. You should have her bookmarked if you don’t already.
I’m a little late in responding to this wonderful recognition on her blog which she posted last week ( See HERE ).
I was nominated twice for her year end “Best of ” Contest. She called for art bloggers to send in nominations for ” The Best Female Portraitist “, and best all around Portfolio.

Look into Sue’s blog for great motivational musings on keeping all the facets of an artists’ life on good speaking terms with each other. She’s not ancient at all. She’s open eyed wise.
The second surprise for me was a nomination by Paulette ( also in my roll ) of Becoming a Renaissance Woman.
Paulette’s use of colored pencil is wonderful. It was a search for roosters on the web that brought her to my blog where she found:

Thanks Sue, Paulette and Katherine. Really, the mention was present enough. The ribbons and bells of the outcome are secondary. What carries heft here is the exposure to fellow artists, and the daily gifts of shared information, support and the variety of creative expression that makes this format as vital as it is to all of us.
Maybe another post before the new year, maybe just time enough to eat too much cake.

Ok. Now, I feel like a harridan which I may be.
BUT BUT. Since you are also a photographer (you can no longer pretend you are not comfortable with that medium) while you are waiting for the painting muse you could show us a little of your physical world. NO MORE ANOLES, however. Honestly, I do sound like a witch. People who have not yet reached the age of reason are crazy about me but it does begin to fall off markedly as the years pile up. Just saying. Oh, it’s really, that I’m just hoping.

I particularly like your paining August Sun. I’ve noticed you use a lot of vibrant red in your paintings. You use it well! Thanks for all the kind sentiments about my cat, by the way. Much appreciated. Much as I will miss him, I am glad I no longer am worried all the time about how he is feeling, how much pain he’s feeling, etc. And yep–still painting! It’s good therapy…for many things.

About the vibrant red you use, besides the two paintings here w/all the red, I was thinking of The Gatekeeper and the very intense red you’d used on his arm.

Jala-you really pay attention to detail. That intense red is much less so in the painting. One of those photoshop anomalies.
Solveg- your words and comments are always appreciated. I know no one thinks we get weather changes here, but we do, and they’ve been as erratic here proportionately as the mainland.

It was funny – I didn’t read the others’ comments til after I posted mine – I see I used the very regularly-featured, “Well Deserved,” phrase. I laughed out loud that so many of us chose the exact same phrase. I guess that emphasizes the truth of it on your behalf!
