…………whoever tires of it?……

I’m not posting a painting today, just catching up looking at everyone elses’. I’m taking another plein air workshop this week and today was the first day. We’ll be going to a different location on the island every day this week.

What looks good will get posted, what doesn’t, gets scraped and sent to the corner.

It’s been a year since my last workshop so along with sunscreen, I’ll bring a can of WD40 for my rusty landscape joints.

But not to deprive anyone of an artistic submission,

A last minute invite to a birthday party. Cookies, the food group that stands alone, were the right idea but I didn’t have tray big enough to transport 60 of them across bumpy roads. And one that I could leave there.

Finally a use for that heavy corrugated cardboard lurking in the closet since before forever. A few coats of acrylic paint on both sides and then the scavenging began outside. Dried palm fronds- cut off the leaves, hot melt glue gun ( love that thing ), and there are the two lengths. Dried banana leaves shore up the shorter sides.  One giant monstera leaf for drama and a tray is born.

If you were going to toss your cookies, wouldn’t you want to toss them HERE?

Fill up on these, as the next posting might be a while. I’ll also be away for a week after the workshop.

you are sooooo creative. That cookie tray is fab. And the cookies look pretty good too. I would never toss those cookies.

As far as the tires go, that just looks like a regular pile of junk at the “Flat Fix” place on 4th Ave. They barely spoke English, but could scream at you PATCH OR PLUG? You would tell them, they’d fix your tire and off you’d go.

CAN’T WAIT to see the plein air paintings after your class. I cannot believe any of them would end up in a corner!

    Creative AND funny.
I love it that you make me smile… My last look at a blog before going nighty-night…. and you made me smile…. That’ll mean you’ve given me a great start on my sogni d’oro (golden dreams)

    Thanks, Bonnie!!

  3. Jala Pfaff Says:

How beautiful. An artist is an artist, even when she’s thinking about kitchen trays.

  4. JoAnn Says:

I love starting my day with one of your blogs! You have a most unique and always creative way of looking at things, like tires, and cookies. . . .and I smile and am renewed. Can’t wait to see the landscapes from your gorgeous island.

Hi Bonnie– ohhh, don’t abandon us for too long!
Nice pile of tires for your opening pun. And a beautiful tray. It reminds me of the home cooked Divali meal we had in Trinidad, served on a banana leaf. Enjoy the workshop!

Like your tray of cookies – it is a fine design. I would like to be sitting on that heap of tires eating a few of your cookies.

  7. Bonnie Luria Says:

Carol-those are the tires that actually are brought by drivers who care. There are so many tires that are just thrown ” in the bush ” and rolled down hills. It’s a big litter problem.

Marian- it really tickles me to think that others are being tickled with what’s here. A new study out says people who blog are happier. I’d agree, wouldn’t you?
I’m really touched- you say you read me at night before sogni d’oro, and JoAnn says it starts her day.
Maybe blogging is better and easier and more fun than painting!

Thanks Jala- we can’t seem to help ourselves, being artists, all the time.

JoAnn- I’m really grinning now. Thank you for that sunbeam.
If you were here, you’d be doing a far better job of landscape painting than I am.

Don- not too long. Only as long is it has to be. Food served in or on banana leaves is less dishwashing, in my book!

Bill- when you and Carol arrive at the same time, we’ll have mounds of cookies on mounds of tires. Promise.

  8. TerryC Says:

Bonnie ~ your sense of humor and your ways of presenting it never cease to amaze and entertain!

    Keep up the great work!

  9. Bonnie Luria Says:

Terry- thank you, it’s so nice to think that people find this amusing and entertaining. And I can do it in my pajamas!
    That’s the best part.

  10. planetross Says:

    Have a good time.
What kind of cookies are those? They look very good. (cookie deprived greedy look)

  11. Nava Says:

Bonnie, a little surprise is awaiting you on my blog.

  12. Marian Fortunati Says:

Don’t throw cookies at me (or even inspired trays)….

I have sent you an award. Check out my Oh La La post for details.

  13. Bonnie Luria Says:

PR- you’re having cookie withdrawal is all. They’re chocolate chip, pecan gone cookies.

Nava and Marian- thank you thank you!!

  14. Eldon Says:

Aint it sweet to be creative? I’m proud of ya!! 🙂
