The Face Of The Earth

No, I did not fall off of it.

Merely lending my aesthetics and focus to This Old House. Having a house in the Caribbean is a full time job. It’s an environment that never shuts off and caring for a house here is like having triplets that never  leave home.

By the time you make an improvement to one area, it’s adjacent component screams out ” I’m old and suffering too” !

I didn’t attempt this myself- honestly I’d rather move and dump everything than paint. Everything gets displaced and that requires considering whether you keep it, clean it, throw it out or give it away.

You can see why I wouldn’t attempt this myself:

I’d be one of the Falling Wallendas

Michelangelo and house painters deserve high praise and a life time subscription to chiropractic.

Worth it.

These are the triplets I refer to:

I know, they don’t look like that much trouble……

I did manage to paint a portrait of my son for his birthday. He is very kind and much handsomer than his Fallen Off The Face Of The Earth mother’s skill in portraiture would reveal:

With thanks to Ted Davis and Emy Thomas who reminded me that they missed my blog. So did I.

It was worth waiting a YEAR for a new blog post. The place looks great. Would love to be sitting on that terrace and sipping a drink and staring out at the water.

The dogs and kitty all look very relaxed. It’s so nice of you to give them your bed. Where do you sleep?

Love the portrait of Noel. Looks a little like Hugh Grant too!

Carolllaaaa- why not sip two? You and Matt have to make another appearance. We sleep on the dog beds on the floor, of course. It’s good for the back.

Well, well, she re-emerges! Nothing like a little housepaint to transform things! Lovely colors. Lovely triplets.
And I agree, better to save your painting time for the canvas rather than the eaves!

Hi Don- you know about colors. Didn’t I go through 7 sample cans before deciding! I wonder if there’s a digital app that would let you accurately place your colors on your house…..

House looks fabulous. Kids as cute as ever — and I don’t mean son. Welcome back, you were missed.

Jo-Ann- so glad you left a comment. I know you love this gang of 4 ( one is group shy- I’ll get him in the next round ). Let’s hope we each get a pass this summer from storms.

I am sooooo glad you are well and still creating … whatever. I too missed your blog.

Your humor, your animals, your wonderful location and all of its differentness… draw me in… so I’m glad you haven’t fallen off.

    I totally agree with Jo-Ann!!!

    • Bonnie Luria Says:

Thanks so much Marian- i feel as though I lost and re-connected with old, dear blog friends, much missed. We’ve had a long history here and it means a lot to me. Keep well and painting like the wind!

So glad to see what you have been up to. The house looks great. I love that you moved the cherub to greet your visitor. Remember when they tried to build that road up the mountain? You cannot even see it. Nature. I am a big fan of your work, and glad to see you are creating. Two cheers to the blog.

Actually, not a half bad portrait, comrade! Power to the islanders!

  8. Fatma Wille Says:

Dear Bonnie I do not know if you remember me and our family-Fatma Wille. I recall you were moving to St. Croix and it is lovely to see how your life has evolved. Many greetings from Zurich

    • Bonnie Luria Says:

My oh my I sure do remember you, your husband and your two girls from our wonderful Wyoming experience. How lovely to hear from you. Yes, I’ve been here for 11 years now and agree that evolution is happening always. A delayed response, but I haven’t checked my blog in a while. I do hope you get to see this. Are you still with Sothebys?
